The Kybalion summarizes Hermetic Philosophy in seven principles, with the All as its foundation:
- The All: Infinite, unknowable, and immaterial; it is the source of all existence. Everything emanates from and is sustained by the All, yet it transcends comprehension.
The Seven Principles
- Mentalism: The universe is a mental construct; the All is Mind, and all phenomena arise from thought.
- Correspondence: Universal laws operate across all planes (physical, mental, and spiritual): “As above, so below; as below, so above.”
- Vibration: Everything vibrates; nothing is at rest. Vibration governs all phenomena and differences in states of being.
- Polarity: Everything has duality—opposites that are the same in essence but differ in degree; opposites can transform into each other.
- Rhythm: Existence flows in cycles; all things rise and fall, governed by a pendulum swing that can be transcended.
- Cause and Effect: Every effect has a cause, and every cause has an effect; nothing happens by chance, only by universal law.
- Gender: Masculine and feminine principles exist in everything, driving creation, manifestation, and balance.
The Generative Principle: Care
Care is the 8th principle, the generative force that transforms thought into action. What you focus on with care drives your reality, shaping your alignment with the universe. Without care, no true creation or change occurs. It emphasizes conscious intention and responsibility, bridging understanding and action to harmonize with the All.
